‘ Harassment, Forceful Eviction Of Tejuosho’s Family Another Vendetta Targeted At Banire’
A highly placed chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Lagos who requested not to be named has provided more insight and political intrigues into the forceful eviction of the former Deputy Speaker of Lagos State Assembly, Hon. Funmi Tejuosho from her house.
According to the APC Chieftain, it was obvious that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and the establishment in Lagos were not at peace with the strong and unflinching support Hon Tejuosho gave the national legal adviser, Dr Muiz Banire, SAN during the crusade for the adherence to internal democracy in the build up to the local government election.
Tejusosho, a lawmaker representing Mushin Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly is a known political ally of Banire.
It was gathered that the powers that be in Lagos were miffed that Tejuosho, a woman can withstand exclusion, persecution in the house for the sake of Banire while a former Personal Assistant to Banire, Hon Olayiwola Olawale, who represents Mushin Constituency 2 in the Assembly could disown his former boss when the pressure became intense.
It will be recalled that Banire dared the Lagos APC establishment over his insistence that the party must adhere to the Article 20 of the APC Constitution 2014 as amended which mandates primaries for all aspirants into elective offices.
A Banire Must Go protest allegedly financed by the Lagos State Government was staged at the party secretarial, ACME and Governor’s office in Alausa. Governor Ambode’s Chief Press Secretary, Habib Haruna issued and signed press statement for the protesters.
They later announced his suspension from the party, a move that the national APC described as illegal and ridiculous stressing that a local chapter cannot remove nor suspend a serving national officer of the party.
The source said, “I dont know why people take pleasure in spreading falsehood. It is only someone who is naive that would not know that this is all political. Everybody knows that Hon. Funmi Tejuosho is a strong political ally of Dr (Banire).
“So, they are targeting Banire and not Tejuosho perse. Governor Ambode wants to clampdown on the support base and interests of Banire ahead of the 2019 Governorship election in Lagos”
“ I reliable gathered from those in Alausa that the governor was acting on the rumour and speculation that Dr Banire would be used to unseat him as governor in 2019. Hence, the overdrive to whittle him down by all conceivable means.
“My brother, you see as journalist you should understand the antics of fifth columnists and mischievous characters. They first flew the kite that the government set up a panel to review sales of government properties which were considered sold below market value.
A primary school pupil will know that there was a transaction and not a case of someone not vacating an official quarter. So, if Ambode government is not up to something evil, why would they invade the residence of the lawmaker while she is away in Brussel for an assignment commissioned by the state.
“Again, Hon Funmi Tejuosho and her husband built this building contrary to the puerile lies of the state government that she moved into an official residence. Please, find time to go to the area. The house that was on that piece of land was the old colonial building like the ones you will notice by the right before getting to 3a, Sasogbon Street.
“How come a building built by a family suddenly becomes an official residence of the deputy speaker? This is preposterous to say the least. The desperation of the state government to clampdown on perceived political enemies is disturbing.
“ The government hurriedly erected a signboard at the entrance of the building today which reads, “This building is the official residence of Lagos State Deputy Speaker”. No valid court order, just use of force and intimidation.
“As a matter of fact under the Lagos State law, you cannot even evict a squatter without recourse to the law. You must take a squatter to the court and only the court can order such eviction. So, what is the argument of the state government? Are they executing an order of a court or they are engaging in self help?
“Even General Sani Abacha junta with its despotic notoriety never engaged in this kind of dastard act. How could you locked out children of a serving lawmaker in the house for 4 days and started demolishing a property while the owners are away….
“For the records, the first two deputy speakers were Farouk Oshodi and Toun Adediran. They never lived there. The two after her were Bola Badmus and Kolawole Taiwo, none of them lived there. When suddenly did it become Deputy Speaker’s official residence?”
Let her show receipt of purchase. The place was deputy speaker’s lodge and it was allocated to her when she became deputy governor. Don’t twist the truth. She should bring her receipt of purchase, survey plan and approved building plan all these must be in her name. For all I know the renovation was done by the housing board of Lagos state house of assembly while she was dp
its shows your level of education and exposure, if your objective was to show receipt of purchase and all you have requested. why the rush to self help. the land isnt runing away and she wouldnt carry the house a way. my point of view for the Governor and paid cornes to take the legal way. which is always the best and final way. you only result to self help if u have something under your skin
Stop name dropping the governor has no hand in this self created problem. It is purely Assembly affairs. Balance your report by getting the views of the other side
really, how is it an assembly affairs. so the law makers are now the law breakers right, using selfhelp to get one of there very own out of a property her company bought. was the matter ever table on the floor of the house. was it not the Governor that setup a panel. The police report to the CP and the taskforce report to GOV. Akin. the chairman of the taskforce supervised the breaking of the house. he was there in the earily hours of monday
This is pure political vendetta, a 4th term legislator in the state, who is also on state assignment being treated as such. The committee dat was setup by d gov to review d sales of govt property shld come out with d other names in there report. Also lagos govt shld get dere fact right before they issuing statement cos they keep changing statement according to reply coming in against d issue. State of excellence indeed.
It’s unheard Of, Mr Ishola. This is 2017 and not 1995 military regime of Abacha. Seems Funmi Tejuosho and her family moven in 1st of October 2017. Bunch of lawless jokers Mchwwww!
U want to tell us the Mopol guys were sent by the deputy speaker or someone else without the governor’s consent, Mr Yusuff and y r u even defending the governor? R u a paid agent or the governor’s cousin? This should be an embarrassment to the government because the right processed ignored. When did Mopol become bailiffs and y the ‘Kangaroo and animalistic’eviction?
So, we keep reading one side of the story. It shows your bias
And u got your own facts from what was posted by the government. Even if there r no receipts, is that a lawful way for eviction? We need to civil and get our facts right before making the right comment. This is an unlawful reaction by the government who needs to lead by example and act responsibly.

Pls we don’t have to drag this issue. This is unlawful,A case that is still in the court.in every cases there’s
always a fair hearing.(1)in d 1st post by d government cos we need to balance our reports, which says d property was fully paid for.Which simply means Hon Funmilayo Tejuoso did pay into d government account not her personal account.Mr olokodana is asking that receipt of purchase should be shown? It’s always better to carefully read before responding. Can she show or present any receipts of purchase in absentia? She’s out of the country representing this same state on an official assignment not personal assignment. Why the rush to evict her from house, why not wait for her arrival to show or present her receipt of purchase.(2)In the refined post which says 100 people to forfeit their properties.I believe by now names of the people and location of the properties should have bn flying in the social media alongside with Hon Tejuoso’s.Mr Olokodana why taking it personal?I rest my case for now.
The world already know that this is an afterthought…all this conspiracy will fall like a pack of cards..lets wait and see…is this not the same Eshinlokun that went public few months ago that he has sued Dr Muiz Banire for forgery which turned out to be a lie…it has shown he is a tool used for dirty game and i know ignominy and disgrace is his at the end of the day…Thank God the Law Courts remains the last hope of the oppressed.
And I hope the likes of Eshinlokun mentioned and his cohorts will be absent from the law courts because “birds of the same feathers will always and shamelessly flock together”.
The motive is clear. This illegal, blatant and brazen show of shame shows how petty the governor of the State can be. This didn’t happen overnight, contrary to what Mr. Olokodana and the State would have us believe. It’s a power show calculated to decimate perceived opponents of Governor Ambode. The property in question was a dilapidated, uninhabitable colonial structure (bungalow) when it was initially offered to Hon. Tejuoso, like other State government functionaries, during the 1st term of the administration of Gov. Fashola. Upon complaint about the dilapidation, she approaching the State Government to outrightly sell same to her, the State agreed and sold it at a discounted rate payable in installments, which she has since settled in full in 2014. After the sale, she pulled down the building and erected a modern, two-story duplex where she and her family have been residing for about 5 years now. Less than a year ago, the State Government alleged that it has revoked the sale of the property and that she should move out. After furnishing the documents of sale, payment etc, the State backed down only to revisit the issue about three months ago. Being the chair person of the House Judiciary Committee. she made some startling discovery about misappropriation of some foreign loan in which the Governor was deeply involved. That was the trigger of this show of executive recklessness.
