Senator Ovie Omo-Agege who is alleged to have mobilized suspected hoodlums to invade the senate chamber and stole away the mace, the symbol of authority in the hallowed chamber has been arrested by police.

Omo-Agege was suspended for 70 legislative days last week following his allegation that the 2019 polls re-ordering by the senate was targeted at President Muhammadu Buhari re-election bid.

The senate spokesman, Senator Abdullahi Sabi described the historic invasion as an affront on the arm of the government saying the act was an act of treason.

“Today, some hoodlums led by suspended Senator Ovie Omo-Agege walked into the senate plenary and seized the symbol of the upper legislative chamber, the mace. This action is an act of treason as it is an attempt to overthrow a branch of the Federal Government of Nigeriaby force and it must be treated by such”, he said in terse statement after the ugly incidence.
