The Lagos State House of Assembly will hold public hearing on the amendment to the controversial Land Use Charge on Tuesday, March 27.

Recall that condemnation had trailed over 400 percent increase in the Land Use Charge by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode. Nigerian Bar Association, Ikeja branch and other civil society organizations led a mass protest to the seat of power in Alausa, Ikeja calling for the repeal of the obnoxious hike.

Subsequently, Lagos State Government announced reductions in the Land Use by 50 percent among other palliatives. Stakeholders had however rejected the reduction describing it as deceptive and self-serving.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the NBA, Ikeja branch, Mr Adeshina Ogunlana had called on Lagosians to shun the LUC and promised that over 3,000 lawyers had been put on stand bye to defend aggrieved property owners free of charge in courts.
