Breaking.. Finally, Lekan Shonde Sentenced To Death By Hanging For Killing Banker Wife
The Lagos State High Court has sentenced Lekan Shonde to death by hanging for killing his banker wife, Ronke.
Lekan Shonde, a depot worker in the Apapa area of Lagos State, was found guilty of the murder of his wife.
Recall that Shonde , 51-year-old allegedly beat his wife to death at their home in the Egbeda-Idimu area of Lagos State sometime in 2015.
He was alleged to have locked the door on the corpse and their two children before the incident was discovered by a housekeeper and later reported to the police.
The marriage, which produced two children, aged six and four, was marred with domestic violence, according to neighbours.
He accused Ronke of sleeping with one Kayode, the general manager of a publishing company.
Delivering the judgement on Friday, Justice Josephine Oyefeso sentenced Lekan to death based on the conviction that the convict killed his wife, Ronke.
A post-mortem examination conducted on Ronke Shonde, revealed that the deceased died from severe brain injuries.
Dr S. S Soyele, a medical pathologist, from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, while giving his testimony before an Ikeja High Court, further revealed that during autopsy, it was discovered that the deceased’s brain was heavy, swollen and filled with water.
“The deceased (Ronke Shonde) died from respiratory failure, caused by cerebral oedema (swollen brain), caused by a blunt force trauma to the brain,” he said.
